Pet Idol Rules

Hi Editor, I was just wondering if anything could be done regarding Pet Idol and the obvious regular cheating. J Mcellen is the perfect example with 5 photos, in first to fifth and 500% more votes then any other. It is so clear she is constantly refreshing voting for her own pets all day ad against any others that comenear her. I know its sad but can she notbe removed due to it been so obvious!

i dont no why people would want to cheat i have entered one pic of missy. and its doing well. i think im bit confusedd i dont really no how it works. its sad if people are cheating its shows if your dog take good photos it only takes one! missys doing pretty well and there only one pic of her on there

If anyone is convinced the selection is not random please tell techie - but give it another go - and maybe refresh your page and then try.

I did, it must have been coincidence that I kept getting same ones. I thought that you just keep clicking when they change, so I´ve prob. given half the pics my vote, haha!

Sorry only just read this, I agree with Michaels comments, I have always thought that the same ones keep popping up, plus a mainly doggy ones.

I asked techie today and he said it is random. I understand sometimes it doesnt seem that way. Its very hard to stop people voting themselves up - we hope it evens out, but sometimes its obvious and thats why we have the captions too as that means its not just votes.

Same thing happens to me, same pics keep coming up, sorry but ive given up trying to vote.

IMO i think 1 or 2 pics per person and when you vote you CANT vote for your own as it doesn´t appear that way no cheating, also the picture MUST match the title orits not really fair!
Other than that Pet idol is great although yet to win i´, working on a good picture for any catagrey! he he he! |Good luck to all entries, lots of fab pics!

I agree with Michael commit the other night i spent at least 15 mins on pet idol and at least 3 pics only came up once and some where repeatedly coming up. 2 pics each is enough for each person. My niece And nephew go on pet idol when they visit and i tell them not to vote on my pet photos in case it looks like im cheating. But very occasionally both come up at the same time,

What controls what two photos are displayed each time? i must have clicked fifty times and my sisters photos did not appear once,where as others kept on appearing three times in a row in one instant, if the photos arn,t seen they won,t get votes.

Some people just cannot play fair thankfully it doesn´t always pay of.

I have just read this forum dont know how I missed it before but I agree I have suspected people voting for themselves why cheat its only a bit of fun.I certainly would not want my picture to win on anything other than merit.

Sorry to bang on about this, but people still aren´t playing by the rules! Is there some way pictures can be deleted if there are more than 2 entries? Can people still vote for themselves? (I think they can!)

BIG BOLD LETTERS TELLING EVRYONE ONLY 2 PICS, cause some dont seem to bother reading the rules.

You can still vote for your own pic, because I tried (only once!). Therefore, the result may never be fair!

hi, there is still a problem with the comp, you still appear to be able to vote for you own photo which is unfair and also there are still entries on there that are nothing to do with the comp title, i myself put too many pics on but deleted as soon as i found out you could only put two up but at least they were all in line with the comp title,

Please could you take my two pictures of the "Pop Idol" I feel that people are not going by the rules and feel that this is unfair for everyone else.

I belong to another fourm, where that you can only vote once, then you are not able to vote again.

Why cant all the pics be on ONE page that way it would be easier to vote ,plus you could easily see who has NOT followed the rules !!!!

It still seems that some people are not going by the rules, as there are still people uploading more than 2 photos, and some pictures are not relevant to the title of the competition.

I think that "the Editor" should have the rights to delete these.

i would say that 1 photo per pet should be entered. will you be deleting the photos from the last competition so there is a fresh chart for the new 1?

I have also deleted one of my three - a difficult choice! It still seems possible to vote for your own pet, though. It would be good if there was a way you could stop that!

Hi Ed I have now deleted one of my 3 photo´s but have noticed others still have alot more then 2 on can i suggest that you highlight the new rules by writing a blog about it on the home page so that way noone can say they didn´t know, it then gives people a chance to delete their own photo´s before you do it.

I have changed the rules now to two pictures. Lets see how that goes. If you´re near the bottom it doesnt matter so much but people near the top WILL now get pictures deleted if there are more than two - but I will always delete the least popular ones according to the chart. I hope it works better - but let me know!

I would say 1 picture per pet/entrant and fix it so that people cannot votwe for their own!..that way there is NO cheating and everybody´s equal!.

maybe 1 picture Ed, I have done 3 of my handsome pup, but votes are split between them, maybe it should be we choose the one we as the owner will create more interest

I think 2 pics woud be fine. And if you can do something about people voting for their own - all the better!

Thanks for clearing that up Sue - so if i say: - 2 entries only. Stick to subject. Dont vote for your own pic - will everyone be happy or will anyone be sad?

oh and also i am not the only one who used my computer it is a sharde one and i also allow my friend sto use it a they dont have their own

well i dont want to upset anyone but i have been off my computer for days now and all my friends have voted for my dogs and they are in top slots i cannot help that they like my dogs
it is a pet potrait and the 3photos i have put up are potrait picutres not some i have just taken of the girls but ones i got them to pose for with hours of trying
i could have put lots of pics up but that would not be fair so i chose the 3 that are portait type photos if dont envy the judge of who wins if it is a hard picture to paint

I will ask the tech dept what can be done. If i say 2 entries only, and stick to subject and dont vote for your own pic - will you be Ok with that?

I think it certainly shouldn´t be any more than three pics. I love to enter, but I feel that people must be voting for themselves because the same person occupies the top slots and it´ s obvious people aren´t playing by the rules. We all think our pets are the best, but there also has to be fair play or you can´t call it a competition!!

I think you should stick with the 3 photo per person rule and make sure the photo´s match the theme. Teck has told me he has given you some IT tools so you can stop all the cheating ie people voteing for their own animals etc.
Greywolf please don´t be shy the pages are their for everyone to look at.

I think you should stick to the 1 photo per pet rule. We all love our pets and would like to let everyone see our wonderful animals, but we can do that via our blog page.

Maybe another page could be set up for everyone to use to post a different picture each week of our pets. That way everyone can post pics of them for everyone to see. I´m shy and dont like visiting pages of others to see there wonderful animals as I think I may be intruding :)
