My blog A happy storyWe have recently taken on a new dog. It is a 6 month old Greyhound. It had been in a kennel until about 5 weeks ago with no human contact apart from the kennel staff, and had never been outside for a walk nor had it been introduced to other dogs. Our client rescued this dog, and is giving him a caring loving home. We are very honoured and privileged to be able to help this lovely puppy develop, and to introduce him to the outside world. He is learning to socialize with humans and with other dogs during our walks. He was very timid to start with, and virtually everything spooked him.We only walk with small groups of dogs, and when we take on a new dog, we firstly introduce them to our own 3 dogs who are very laid back calm and extremely obedient. Only then do we introduce them to the other dogs. Our own dogs always come on all the walks, and it is amazing what a pack of calm obedient dogs can achieve. They tend to hold everything together, and the other dogs are learning from ours how to behave in a pack. Ours are whistle trained, and the other dogs quickly learn how to respond to the whistle. But to come back to this new dog, he is really progressing very well. He is becoming much more relaxed and bolder and since walking him regularly his owners have noticed a dramatic improvement.
