Sorry to hear about poor Roxie,Buffie.....I know what you´re talking about about the egg´s and the term your looking for is ´egg bound´ or ´egg binding´.....symptom´s vary greatly but commonly,a bird will become depressed, stop eating and will sit all fluffed up. She may be straining occasionally. Droppings may be absent, since the egg is preventing them from passing out through the cloaca. Occasionally, a hen will develop lameness of one or both legs (if one leg is involved, it is usually the left). The abdomen may appear swollen, especially around the vent area. Some hens will sound as if they have respiratory problems because of the noises they make when straining. An egg-bound hen will be obviously uncomfortable, and she may pick at her vent.

Your hen passed an egg successfully last night,so it sound´s unlikely that she has the above condition however,if she start´s displaying any of the above symptoms or her condition worsen´s,then I strongly suggest that you pop her along to your vet,to get her checked out....meanwhile keep her warm and out fo draught´s and maybe add an avian tonic to her water.

All the best now and do please let us know how she goes.xxx
