Ringed Plover

While sitting on the beach nearly a fortnight ago, I watched as Paul & kieran walked down to the waters edge a pair of Ringed Plover´s start swooping down toward there heads they were squealing, Paul new straight away what was going on...they were protecting there nest in the shingles, so he moved out of the way a little later once they had come back a group of 4 boys around the age of 15 had the same thing happen to them as they walked down the beach...But this time there was cause for concern as the boys were horrified by the birds swooping at then they rebeled to hurl stones off the beach at them, this went on for a good 20 mins so we decided to walk back down the beach and cross there path, to which paul threatened to report them for there un-acceptable behaviour toward the birds, on this note the boys proceeded toward the water and I lagged behind emptying sand out from my shoes, only to see one boy walk back up to meat someone, as they headed back down straight through the path of the birds they just couldnt resist one more stone and pointing a finger toward paul and shouting ´go on ring the RSPCA´ (not a good idea when Deb is about) my very last words to these boys as I headed toward then in a fit of rage now was ´who said anything about ring the RSPCA, Im gonna Ring Your F***** Necks´ they didnt know how quick to gather up there things and go off to the other end of the beach.

Its so sad for them....We thought they were wonderful the wasy they were swooping and trying there hardest to take care of the nest..If I could have found the nest (I did try) I would have built a fence round it and slapped a warning sign on it.

Good for you Deb´s....I´d have done the same...why can´t kid´s just leave thing´s alone ?????...why must they be so beastly ???.

I love Ringed Plover´s...they are such cute little birds and have such a hard struggle to raise a family successfully each year, what with their nest´s being open and exposed on beaches and sand dune´s.
