Discussion started by: | Discussion > why do you have to be on benefit to get bhelp from charities? After finding a stray abandoned kitten aged about 6 weeks old with a shattered shoulder, when it looked like an operation costing 1000 pounds was needed or amputation no charity could help as we work.who has 1000 pounds? The cat was found abandoned in shrubland and couldnt walk. What angers me most is the charities appeal for money, who gets this money? They offered to take the kitten away but by day 2 we were very attatched as it couldn't walk. I think in our circumstances with a kitten with 3 breaks in its shoulder priority should have been given to its injury by the charity whether we work or not, we only just get by like everyone else. We paid for xrays and sedation. We love the kitten now aged 12 weeks. It can now walk run and jump. The leg was left on and bones fused together but she recovered far better than we could have hoped. The operation wasnt realistic as a sergeon said the chance of success was only 20%. The leg is a bit out of alignment but she is the loveliest thing in the world except at 4 in the morning walking on my head. She has every toy , an activity centre and our dog and other cat for company, she is insured and vacinated. I would like to meet whoever abandoned her far from houses and unable to walk, the vet said it wasn't a recent injury. Mostly im angry with the charities. Well i've complained enough. We have gained something so lovely and loving. Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 19 Jun 2008 12:44 People abandoning or ill treating animals makes me so angry. Really makes my blood boil. Your little kitten was so lucky that you found her & cared for her & broke the bank to make sure she was ok! Our cat was from a rescue home & had been very ill before we had her. Her first owners hadn´t bothered taking her to the vets when she was very poorly with cat flu & when the cat rescue centre took her in it was touch & go as to whether she would make it through the night. She was put on a drip & luckily by morning was bounding around. When we got her from the rescue centre two weeks later aged 8 weeks old she was the tiniest scraggliest ball of fluff & she just melted our hearts straightaway. She is susceptible to allergies & recurrences of cat flu because of her being so poorly & not looked after properly as a tiny kitten so we have frequent vets bills but she is worth every penny & we would rather go without food ourselves than make her go without something she needs. Thats why I feel so angry when I hear about people abandoning animals. How would they like to be abandoned if they were injured or sick? It would have been nice if a charity could have helped you financially when you found your little kitten but it is so great that u took responsibility for her :-) |
