Where to walk our dogs?

For years my estate have allowed people to walk their dogs on the small greenery area downstairs. It seems since I've got my dog Kyzer, their minds have changed because the grass area is a "Children's play area". Personally, I dont play their and neither does any of my friends. So now they're saying I must take my dog either to Cantelows park (around 5mins away -- at 8:00am before SCHOOL!!) or somewhere else!! I dont agree with this so please help me campaign against this but leaving comments for me to show the people in my estate that this must change!!
Thank you,
Xxx Rochy xxX

Hi Rochy
I guess what you could do is keep a series of photographs taken at different times of day and on different days to show the local council that the area is not a public play area - that may persuade them simply to take the sign down - then you could ask local dog owning residents if they would club together to pay for a dog poo bin - or better still - cos someone has to empty the bin - ask the council to put up a notice saying - take your dog poo home - like they do for litter.
It is possible to get compostable poo bags now - but I have always tended to take wads of kitchen roll and then flush it down the loo - someone on here who works for the water authority will no doubt say I shouldn't.
Also - please remember that the worms you can catch from dogs don't get into your body or anyone else's straight from your dog - his poo has to be on the ground for 21 days before any worm eggs in it are viable and can cause you harm - so picking up the poo is really the best policy to keep a green area safe to play on.
Let us know how you get on

Hi Rochy - I am sure you know there is a campaign going on to stop Camden tightening up on dogs. See the editors blog on the home page. Did you realsie that PetStreet is based in Camden and lots of people we know are worried about these new restrictions. Let us know if you need any help re complaining to the council and tell all your friends about PetStreet too!

Could the grassy area be divided in some way so that there is an area of children to play, and an area for dogs to excercise? Maybe if you asked the council to install a poo bin as well to show neighbours there won't be any mess left un scooped it might help?
Good luck, Julie
