Ferret rescueHi, I am just wondering how many people here keep Ferrets. For the past ten years my husband and I have rescued Ferrets, and sometimes we have taken in a Jill with her litter, and there can be 14 kits in one litter. People buy a Ferret, then sometimes get bored as they need lots of stimulation, including playing with their fellow Ferrets and humans too. We have our Hobs neutered, and our Jills have a jill jab if they haven´t been spayed. We found that a jill jab once a year given by a Vet, seems to keep our Jills more healthy and they live longer, than when they are spayed. There is lots of cruelty going on around Ferrets, and I wish that people would take them to their nearest rescue centre, if they don´t want them. Paul and I have always paid out of our own pockets for feeding, and Veterinary care and we are not a registered charity ~ we just love all animals and believe that they should have a place within society. At present we have 5 in 2 groups. A local garden centre sells ferrets for £40 ea. they have had at least 5 kits now for nearly 3 months. I will not buy them as it encourages their practice of buy to sell leading to unwanted animals being destroyed or sent to rescues. Ferret keeping is not something to enter into on a whim, it needs TIME, COMMITTMENT & KNOWLEDGE. Keep up the good work with your rescue. 13 Jul 2008 21:08 DescriptionHi there I have now got 11 rescue ferrets that I show I used to be frightened of them thought they all would bite you (Richard Whitely as a lot to answer for ) I love all my ferrets and the rescue centre that I get them from is just great 26 Jun 2008 07:58 Member Removed Good for you xx We took in 2 jills around 6 months ago from a guy that didnt want them as they wasent what he wanted E.G......killing rabbits and was going to let them go! so hubby had a ferret years ago and said il take them brought them home in his jaket and we took them in there great wee things they love ur dogs and are going to get them as i say dressed lol.
