my 18 month old cat Buddy has a strange habit, he walks on me while i´m sleeping. He´s not a lap cat but has this this thing about coming in the bedroom at night and walking up and down on me. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why he may be doing this? just to add I dont mind him doing this just wondered why he does. During the day, you are the leader of the pack (cos you feed them, clean up after them etc etc), but at night, you lie down (which to a cat is a submissive pose) possibly on your back or side. Your cat will walk over you, to announce his dominance over you. Not something easy to fix I´m afraid. Keeping bedroom door shut is one, but if you´re like me, and I can´t sleep without a lump on my legs.....(even when I´m away from home, I have to stick something heavy on my legs or I can´t sleep, sad isn´t it?) Your cat owns you -- live with it. It´s fun really. 28 Jun 2008 22:52 Description Not a cat expert by any stretch of the imagination, but i am of the understanding that this is dominant behaviour, asserting his postion in the house. could be wrong. Ha ha maurice, your cat´s in charge. Shut the bedroom door lol. 24 Jun 2008 14:49 i know it is quite common for cats to be attracted to people that dont like them because they make little eye contact. this could be the same sort of thing, 19 Jun 2008 20:55 My cats well at least two do this.....I don´t know why BUT it doesn´t bother me and make´s me think that to them,it´s a way of seeking reassurance and comfort on their part. They will walk up and down a few times and across..then finally settle next to me....and all´s well with the world. Just take it as his way of showing affection and if anybody can give a further insight into this behaviour...then please do share!!!. |
