Help we have just come home and found Jaffa our 1 year old kitten dead.Cat please help we came home and found Jaffa dead in the lounge and we don´t know why he was fine and healthy this morning running around eating his breakfast all normal and then we come home this afternoon and found him dead in the lounge. What could have happened? Are my other cats going to be alright? None of the cats have been out for a few days because the weather has been so bad so i´m at a loss as to what has happened? From the topic: Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 10 Jul 2008 17:40 Thank you cat my other cats have been given a clean bill of health i don´t have anything in doors that could harm any of my animals and none of the cats had been out for 4 days due to the weather being so bad. My hubby found Jaffa 1st and just throught he was asleep cos he was curled up like he normally would do it was only when he went to stoke him he realised he was gone. That morning he had seemed fine eaten his breakfast as normal with the other cats and running around. We went out about 9ish and came back about 1ish and found him. I couldn´t afford a post mortem and the vet said i might still not get any answers. My problem now is that his brother Honey is pinning for him he cried all last night and just keeps searching for Jaffa. Ben, Poppy & Freddie don´t seem to be pinning to much althrough Ben did spend last night looking for him, but seems to have stopped today. Ben is also staying close by Honey´s side. 10 Jul 2008 15:31 Hi Brenda, What an awful thing to have happened, I am really sorry for you and all your family. It is very difficult for me to say what might have happened to Jaffa, it could have been a lot of things. What condition was he in when you found him? Did he look like he might have been hurt? For example in a car accident? Was he foaming at the mouth or anything like that? If it has happened in the last 24 hours, it may be worth ringing your vets and discussing taking him in for an examination, they could even send his bady away for a postmortem if you wished, but that has to be done very soon after death. It would also be prudent to take the rest of your cats in for a check up, to ensure nothing is wrong with them.. In such a young cat sudden death can be due to congenital defects, such as heart problems, so it is doubly important you have any related cats examined. Also, ensure you check all your cupboards and any sheds for anything he may have eaten or come into conatct with that may have caused him harm. It may also be worth chatting to the neighbours, to see if any of their cats have been ill. I would ask them as well if anybody has put down any rat bait, this can be toxic to cats but isn´t always fatal. Once again, I am very sorry for your loss and I hope this has been of some help Cat Whar an awful thing to have happened, |
