TitleHi, I have two cats, which are three years young, we are getting ready to move to a new house, and this will be the first time we have moved all together. I have heard that you can use herbal remedies to help prepare the cats for moving, such as mimosa, but is this safe and how do you do it? Use for at least a fortnight before the move date, then plug it into the new home as soon as you get there, and before you move them in. I use it all the time, when intrducing new cats to the household, sometimes i just forget to turn it off !! 08 Sep 2008 20:02 Hi Susie, I don´t know a lot about herbal products for pets, but there are some people on here who do know about them. I think there is a club for people interested in herbal and homeopathic remedies. However, I have never found herbal medicines to have much of an effect, but they are rarely harmful, so might be worth a try. The best product to help stressed cats is Feliway. Feliway comes in either a plug-in or a spray and is a synthetic feline pheramone which cats find very comforting. It is the same scent as the one they spread when they buff against things. People cannot smell it. I would use Feliway in the house you are in at the moment, and then in the new house when you have moved so it smells familiar and comfortable. It can also be helpful if you are introducing new cats to each other, as it generates an atmosphere of calm. Remember when you move to a new house with cats to keep them in for about the first month so they get used to their new surroundings and know where they live when they start going out. Good luck with the move! Cat |
