poor beth as took the skin right off her front leg about half way down,it,s not a cut more a slice,we have sprayed it with antiseptic spray but she keeps licking it ,would we be better covering it with a bandage or plaster,it,s about the size of a tablespoon. Thank´s for the update and I hope she get´s better soon and you´ll also get another chance to have another more promising weekend away (LOL)!. 28 Sep 2008 10:15 we had booked a weekend away at the nottingham for the greyhound gathering, beths leg still looked really bad but we had booked our hotel and paid in full so we decided to go and take beth to the vets as soon as we got there, thinking it would just need a injection and needle.but poor beth was admitted for the day and anethetised while she was stiched up,so we had to leave her there all day,we went to the gathering but it wasnt the same with just the shelties ,so ended back at the hotel waiting for the vets to ring,we were on the 3rd floor so poor phil had to carry beth up and down 2 flights of stairs, lol, beth is a little bit more lively this morning ,but we came home anyway as she cant be exercised for 6 weeks, her bandage is all bloody so we will take her to our own vets tomorrow to get her checked out, only cost £122 we were expecting a lot more, poor thing as to were her muzzle as she wont leave it alone.but were all home safe and well.thanks to satnav. 26 Sep 2008 20:22 Oh poor Beth. Can´t add anymore to what the other girls have said. Just wanted to say I hope she heels soon x x 26 Sep 2008 20:05 it,s not dripping blood but it looks red, cant put a sock on as its by her elbow. 26 Sep 2008 19:58 pat is it a deep cut and is it bleeding i would take her to the vet in the morning untill then i would do as mary says 26 Sep 2008 19:55 You could also try a small sock ,tape it at the end with masking or surgical tape (not to tight ) poor Beth 26 Sep 2008 19:52 I would consult your vet. If she is licking it, she will probably chew a plaster or bandage. It may be that she needs one of those stiff collars so that she can´t get at it. 26 Sep 2008 19:51 Hmmm..ideally it´s best to let the air get to it,but her persistent natural licking could make it far worse.....I´d spary it again and then apply a bandage for overnight and assess it again in the morning. It may need veterianary attention,so be prepared to take her along to your vet in the morning,if she won´t leave it alone or if it look´s angry in anyway. Poor Beth and they are so fine skinned too!. |
