MY DOG WON´T EAT PROPERLY

I have a 6yr old Springer Spaniel who goes everywhere with me, I run a Pet Service business and so she comes out with me each day when I am walking clients dogs. A week ago she pulled a muscle in her stomach so I have been leaving her at home to rest.
Over the weekend she started to refuse her food, no matter how we tried to coax her she wouldn´t have it, in the end we found we were hand feeding her as it was the only way we could get her to eat but today she wouldn´t even take any food from our hands, she is in good health otherwise, can you give me a suggestion on what to do.

Hi Shirley,

I think the most important thing in this case is to have your dog checked over by a vet as soon as possible. Pulled muscles are not especially common in dogs, especially in the abdomen, what exactly were her symptoms? Also, I would consider it unlikely that the pain of a muscle strain or other injury would put her off her food to such a dramatic degree. Is she still drinking?

Pop her to the vet tomorrow and see what they say, if she is given the all clear health-wise then we can consider a behavioural problem but I feel it is imperative she is checked over first before you proceed down that route.

Change the diet? Softer food might be a good idea, something which will "go down" easy. Might make to poo a bit soft too for a bit!

Has your Vet checked her out?
