I was thinking about taking my boy to something like this..I mentioned it to a friend in passing and she more or less was disgusted at me. I got quite upset as I´m well aware how Boarder Collies, like my boy, would enjoy it so much..including me :-)..Is there any reason why some animal rights...think this is not good? Can someone enlighten me please? 24 Jan 2012 06:35 I realise that this thread is quite old now but thought I´d add to it anyway as I do flyball with my staffy & 4 of my jack russells. It´s a great sport, and yes, it can be noisy but the dogs love it so you get used to the noise. Vicky - although the are a lot of collies (& their crosses) in the sport it is open to any breed that can be taught to retrieve a ball & go over the jumps. In my club we have jack russells (traditional & parson types), staffy, cocker spaniel, patterdale terrier, labrador, bedlington terrier, corgi, german shepherd, belgian shepherd, doberman, bearded collie, in addition to the collies & collie-crosses! If you like to see photos & videos then please feel free to visit our club website at http://www.bassettallsorts.co.uk. Videos of our dogs in competition & training can be found by clicking on the link under the ´Club Milestones´ menu option. If you have any questions about the sport then feel free to ask - if I don´t know the answer I will find someone who does ;-) 23 Apr 2009 19:18 Noo´s i have found this, you could make it for Megs!! http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/2119/boxplan.htm 22 Apr 2009 13:12 I saw it at my first crufts show and think its well good, i no its all about speed but u only see collise or collie crosses i onder if any other breed does it just 4 fun i mean 22 Apr 2009 11:35 Yes Noos any dog activity/sport is great for both the person and the dog, what im, trying to say is that before anyone starts these type of things, they should attend obedience classes as one has to have complete control over their dogs at all times and in different situations. What your seeing in the video is the finished product not the hard work it takes to get there. 22 Apr 2009 10:52 vena im not bothed about putting her in the sports shows if she was good at it then maybe but i think i would be good for my little ball of energy to have something like that 22 Apr 2009 10:35 I was watching the flyball on crufts but as Vena says way to loud for me lol it is a great sport but i´d imagine a extreamly well trained dog could only do it! Sadie would be far to interested in everything else going on lol 22 Apr 2009 10:17 its takes a lot of training and practice to get to the level on the video, |
