my SILLY dog!!my silly puppy has eaten a plastic bag which had a treat in it. She is 5 months old. I know- sillowner for letting her, but it happens in a flash when I had to rescue my daughter who fell off her bike in the park.....(long story) The point is, It was Sat afternoon. and so far has not shown symptoms of being un well. She doesn´t ever dive into her food like she´s hungry. But is a bit of a scavenger. and we´ve not been able to see if it´s passed through as she hides in the bushes to poo. the one I saw today seemed ok........! it was a very fine plastic food - type bag. how long do you think it would stay in her system. ? Should I take her to vet even if she has no symptoms,? Is it automaticallly always dangerous? thanks for reading. Sometimes it is amazing what dogs will eat that doesn´t cause them any problems! The things that cause the most issues for dogs are solid objects such as stones or toys, or long stretchy things like tights or socks. These both can get stuck in the small intestines and cause very serious blockages. If a dog has eaten something that is going to make them poorly they will generally show signs of ill health within 12-24 hours. These can include vomiting, refusing to eat, painful abdomen and general lethargy. If you are every concerned about something your pet may have eaten, the best thing to do is to contact your vet straight away. They will be able to advise you on the best course of action and also they have medications to make animals vomit, which can be a very useful treatment so long as the item was eaten within a couple of hours of the injection.
