Hi from St Leonards On Sea + BSL

Hello Everyone,
I have just joined and am enjoying having a look round.

I found the forum while looking for new´s of Bruce in Northern Ireland.
Like everyone else I am desperate to get him out of his nightmare and am heart broken for him.
I wish I could just go get him!!

Due to finding Bruce I have become aware of the BSL law´s and what has been happening to dog´s all over the world because of it.
I have a Bull mastiff and my daughter a, long legged, Staff (who is the image of Bruce).
I have been made to realise that BSL could affect me, my family and our dog´s.
I don´t know how I would cope if they were taken, let alone to then find them in the condition Bruce was found to be.

I have to help fight these law´s and am now going to do all I can.

it´s not just the Big or Pit Bull or fighting Dog´s this affect´s.

In the UK a Pit Bull Type could mean a Boxer x Staff and could be taken and locked away in secret kennel´s, having done nothing wrong but look like a Pit Bull Type, while you fight in court to prove he is not a dangerous dog.
A process that take´s many month´s often year´s.

I had no idea this happened in the UK and thought it was only dog´s that had attacked that were taken.
But even if a dog has attacked why must it take so long?

Why are they hidden away, guilty until proved innocent?
What´s wrong with regular visit´s?
Guilty or innocent all dog´s deserve to be visited.
Especially the guilty dog´s who are PTS in the end.

Bruce has had very few visit´s and it is clear, he is confused and so sad, he doe´s not understand what is happening and is emaciated to look at with a big festering wound on his muzzle and half his tail amputated.
His video´s show his bone´s sticking out, his wounded nose and his stump of tail.
He has lost the will to live, doe´s not deserve this and is proof this system cause´s pain, distress, suffering and is cruel.

On the USA´s list of 75 controlled breed´s
(Total list for the whole country - Not all dog´s apply to all State´s.)
is the very vicious and scary......Pug
The Pug fall´s into the category of a "Deep Chested, Wide Legged and Short nosed" controlled breed.

It´s getting ridiculous and one day could include all breed´s.
They all bite and can cause harm.

So Please, if you can do anything, however little it may seem, Please do it and let´s save our dog´s.

PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED!!

Let´s bring in LAWS that control the idiot dog owner´s.

The young dog owner´s that have a hard dog to look cool and to use to fight.

Let´s control where a dog is walked and how.

Let´s have exercise area´s for dog´s to be off lead.

Let´s have compulsory micro chipping + licensing + training (for the dog´s and the dog owner´s)

Let´s have tougher sentence´s for the bad dog owner´s.

Let´s at least try.

What we have now is not working!!

How many thousand´s of pound´s of tax-payer´s money is wasted on keeping these dog´s while the Court´s decide their fate´s?

How many dog´s have suffered?

How many dog´s are suffering right now?

How many innocent dog´s have been put through this?

Why do they seem to take the wrong dog´s?

Look around and you´ll see the dog´s that should be taken, but never are and it won´t be the dog´s that look wrong it will be the owner´s on the end of the lead or not as they probably won´t have a lead.

PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED!!

If we save just a few dog´s from suffering this nightmare it will be worth it!!

If we can´t change the system then at least we must make the system a much quicker process.

How do you prove your dog is safe?

If you provoke me enough I bite too!!

Sorry, didn´t mean to put all this in my Hello thread but I´v just had enough!!
There are enough cruelty case´s of animal´s that we can´t help.
To find the authorities are causing suffering to animal´s is to much and should be something we can stop.
Apparently because these dog´s are in the authorities care there is no-one who can stop this.
The world has gone mad!!

As you can probably tell I am a little bit passionate on the subject of animals.
I have had dog´s all my life and there are 5 in the family at present.
We all live in St Leonards On Sea.
I have 3 Children, 1 Grandson, a Grandchild due in Nov 09, and a Bull mastiff named Elvis Presley.
(My son named him when he was 5, when he heard the name he refused to call him anything else!!)

I´m looking forward to meeting you all and getting involved with this forum.
Bye for now

Su and Elvis x

I am between a rock and a hard place with this one. My husband and I had a pitbull for a few years before they were as demonised as they are now or illegal. He was a softy for most of them and wouldn´´t hurt a fly - he was a well treated normal family pet. He started becoming jealous of everything and going a bit weird and scary he got snarly and wanted his own way all the time. He didn´t ever attack anyone but we never really trusted him at the end. We got increasingly scared of what he might do and let him go - before he attacked us or anyone else. I do not agree with the BSL as I feel as one breed is outlawed another will be chosen or bred to fill the space that the bad owners want. I never used to think of bad dogs and just blame the owners ... but there are some bad dogss and we all need protecting from them ... and the breeds themselves need protecting from the awful treatment that some people give them because of what they are. Thank you.

As for Bruce..you can read all the latest new´s on this sad and appalling case via my Bruce´s BLOG on my own profile page...again I update it regularly as new´s come´s in....I´m passionately AGAINST BSL and it´s probably my number one soapbox subject and something that infuriates me......there are also a huge number of people on here, who are against BSL also and have Bull´y breeds too and we do what we can,to educate those that don´t know about BSL and the heartache, distress and death rate that it causes.

Anyway.....do please enjoy the site and any questions or queries then please don´t hesitate to ask!.
