Cat Flaps - Magnetic both ways???

Hi,

Very strange request, but cannot find anything on the internet about this, and Im sure that I am not the only one who has this problem......

We have two cats, one is called Foxy and is very old, and gets lost (recent thing) when she goes outside when I am not there, she wanders down the road a bit then cant remember where she came from, twice now I have had two kind people call me to say they have found her distressed in their gardens.

Our other cat is Loulou and is very street wise and loves going in and out, we had a catflap and they used to come and go as they pleased, but now due to Foxy we decided to get a magnetic cat flap and give the magnet to Loulou so that she can still come in and out.

Whilst fitting using the instructions, we realised that the magnet only works for coming back in, and was not needed for exiting, which completely defeted the object! To compensate we have had to fit it back to front, so that Loulou´s magnet on her collar allows her to exit, but is not needed to come back in, luckily we have not ever had trouble with strays entering the house, but you can bet your bottom dollar that now the cat flap is the wrong way round that any other cat will be able to enter the house, but of course wont be able to leave as will need a magnet (so hopefully any cat that enters will have a magnet on them!!!)

What we need is a cat flap that requires a magnet to enter and exit, but no where seems to do these, and I find this odd, as Im sure I am not the first to have this kind of problem.... Can anyone offer help / clever solution etc......; Thanks in advance.

Cherry, Foxy and Loulou Xx

Hi.

are your cats microchipped? There is the pet porte catflap that would only work for cats with the microchip you programme in. That seems really odd to me as well. Try looking for 4 way cat flaps, they are coming in only, going out only, going in and out and completely locked, like Staywell.

Hope that helps :-)
