TicksHi Cat, About two weeks ago we removed a tick from Hollys leg at the time i wasn´t sure it had all come out. We had her at the vet just after this for annual injections & mentioned this however he seemed unconcerned but in the meantime she has a tiny little lump where it was. Although she seems fine this just doesn´t seem to be going away and im worried that maybe she should of had some form of treatment for it. Do i take her back to the vet or will this take time to dissapear ? I would appreciate your advice on what to do. P.s we use frontline pipettes regularly for flea & tick prevention. Thankyou. I appreciate you getting back to me xx 16 Sep 2009 07:51 Thankyou Cat, It doesn´t appear to be swollen or look sore & i think it is getting smaller so perhaps it will settle in time. If the head has detached from the body then often the lump is red and swollen. If the head came with the body then the lump is generally calm and not sore but it still might remain for several weeks. If the head is still in the skin then sometimes treatment is required to heal it but often it will settle on its own, but again it can take several weeks. The problem is the only way to get the head out would be to sedate the dog and remove the lump in its entirety but it is rarely enough of a problem to justify such an intervention. I hope this helps.
