Hi Jean,

Westies, as I am sure you know, are notorious for having sensitive skin and this is often most noticeable on the feet. You may have noticed that a lot of Westies have brown stained feet. This is due to saliva staining from them licking and nibbling at their paws all the time.

The smell from his feet is likely to be coming from a low grade bacterial or fungal infection, particularly if it is not a ´normal´ doggy smell. There are some very effective washes you can get from your vet which can help with problems like this and also help to prevent flare-ups by keeping these rumbling infections under control.

Give your vet a ring and have a chat about this issue, they should be able to advise you further.
