Anyone else out there using Catolet cat litter?Bought one bag of Catolet at the weekend to see if my cat Daisy would mind using it instead of Sainsburys own brand(heavy to carry) or Catsan(expensive). It sounded good as it is made of paper and very light to carry, meant to be flea resistant and masks smells.I mixed it in with some of the normal litter. Bit disappointed as it looks like grey pellets and although I can scoop up solids easily, I can´t tell when it has been used as the pellets don´t change colour at all! Daisy is fine using it so far and doesn´t leave any dusty paw prints on the floor but I wondered if anyone else has had a good or bad experience with it. I think I will probably not buy it in future as I prefer to actually see whether the litter tray needs changing! From the topic: Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 19 Mar 2010 18:32 Well ,I still have a lot of Catolet for Daisy to use up so I am continuing to mix it in with the regular Sainsburys own brand gravel type which costs £1.16 per bag( good value). There aren´t any dust marks on my floor but occasionally I find the odd bit of Catolet which Daisy seems to like batting around on the floor...lol! 18 Mar 2010 21:02 it should just go to mush when its tinckled on lol its also hypoallergenic and can be used for most pets hygine wise ie rats and other small animals good if there is asmathic persons living in the house xxx 15 Mar 2010 18:52 Pauline- I wish we had that apple smelling one here in England- sounds lovely! :) 13 Mar 2010 21:26 Monty has Catsan .. its very good .. but does leave white paw prints but s thats no problem ... no smell and good value i think xxxx 13 Mar 2010 20:08 I don´t like any of the litters made from paper as I think they have an odd smell. best one i´ve bought was a fine, sandy coloured one from Tesco--lasted longer than any other. here is France we have one made from pulped apples!!! It smells really nice and is not that much more expensive than most. 12 Mar 2010 14:19 Thanks for all your comments everyone. I think I will stick to the normal gravel stuff in future. My local Tesco doesn´t stock cat litter at all but I can still get hold of the usual Sainsburys own brand. Claire- thanks for mentioning the crystals. I haven´t used those before but wasn´t really fussed about trying those. It is a shame that theCatolet wasn´t as good as I had hoped- I had liked the idea of being able to carry something lighter on the train! :) 10 Mar 2010 22:38 Hi Evelyn - I use the tesco cheap stuff too. Its good because you can get the lumps out and not use tons of it. My friend prefers to buy expensive crystals and not change them often enough so that they smell - the crystals go yellow but do not clump together. 10 Mar 2010 18:40 Hiya. I don´t know if this is of any help, but my Scamp seems to get on ok with the cheap Tesco ´Blue Stripe´ stuff. I have to confess that he usually "goes" outside (where is a complete mystery, but none of the neighbours have complained!), but I do keep him in a lot during November when there are fireworks going off, and he uses this litter just fine. 10 Mar 2010 13:38 Sorry.....never heard of this one personally but then again,I buy my cat litter (Sainsbury´s own clumping litter) from the store obviously and they don´t stock that one (or not yet they don´t LOL). I have used and tried various one´s but much prefer Sainbury´s own and find it exceptionally good value for money as well as being easy to use and muck out...my cats love it too and so we´re all happy (Hee-hee). 10 Mar 2010 13:34 ive tryed diffrnt brands of cat litter ( not me personally ha ha ) out of most of the brands on sale the best one is the cheepest tesco brand £1.16 per bag the other stuff is just the same but with a highter price tag .. |
