Broody spayed cat???Hey everyone, My 8 year old saimese saffy has started acting very strange indeed (even more so than normal) she has started stealing my sons (3 year old) socks, she carries them around like a mummy cat with a kitten in its mouth, crying, and its a very strange cry, un-like any other that she has ver made before. it´s always my sons socks and never my daughters socks, and i´m not sure where she is finding them either! she has never done this before last saturday and now she is doing it a few times a day, she finds them up stairs and carries them down then drops them and ges back upstairs. (they are clean though, before any one thinks she is hinting I need to do more laundry! lol) She was spayed when she as a kitten, but she did have 2 seasons. Has anyone else come across this kinda behaviour before??? I was in contact with new born kittens a few days before, I was thinking she has smelt there sent on me and this is what i making her act like this, but my younger girls (who were only spayed 6 mnths ago) are un affected. Its quite worring seeing her seem so distresed :( From the topic: Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 24 Jun 2010 13:23 Thanks girls, yep, she is a ´si´ nutter, lol! she has stopped doing it now, but has now taken to sleeping on my head at night! thin she is going slightly mad in her old(ish) age! There is def´ some thing madly special about the breed though Mary, would never be with out my ´mad´ girl´s x 16 Jun 2010 22:39 my tabby cats dont do this ,,,,, the most they carry around with them is a cat nip mouse might just be a quirk ,, either that or she just really likes socks :) 16 Jun 2010 12:48 Should just say....she never ever give´s me the impression that she´s distressed in anyway, just very vocal about her gift and keen to let everyone know that she´s got something for you....I also think that the cries can sound somewhat intent and distorted because of them doing it whilst carrying something in their mouth´s, her sound´s return completely back to normal once she drops the item (LOL)!. My younger cat Ylang Ylang has also started doing this from time to time too (although it´s only soft cat toys that she carries) and on the odd occasion, both Thai and Phoebe will do it to but again only with a soft cat toy. Defintitely something ´Siamesey´ I´d say (Ha-ha). 16 Jun 2010 12:43 YEP....she sound´s exactly like my cat ´Sing´....she was spayed at around 2 years old too and has always had a thing for socks, bra´s (yep embarrassing LOL) and small items like toys or laces, that she often carries around the house, giving a certain cry at the same time....infact I´d say, that she does it at least once a day normally around the evening time and she particularly like´s my smalls not my partners (NOT that he wear´s bra´s OBVIOUSLY Hee-Hee!). She often bring´s me these items as a gift and drops them before me, then ignores them until the next time or day.....why she does this is anybody´s guess, it could be a motherly thing or just something that is associated with the breed Siamese...that´s what I love (adore) about the breed, they have so many little quirks, fancies and self idiosyncrasies, that´s make them so unique and just the bee´s knee´s in the cat world (LOL)!. |
