a lot of bichon frise dogs are being brought up wrongi was told that i am bringing up charlie well as he is gentle and a lot of his bred are being brought up aggrevise here and they could bite people i also heard 1 day that a lot of them are ending up in the local pound as there owners are not correcting them From the topic: Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 01 Aug 2011 10:53 its important to socialise them well when young. My Bichon is 13 weeks and starting puppy training this week. Bichons are not an agressive dog by nature but as with all pet owners there are good and bad ones. Mines growing up with a 12 year old labrador, hes showing her good ways as hes gently and friendly. She has a good doggy role model to play with. 29 Jun 2010 16:43 Noo, you should have been there then when I tried to push my mother in her wheelchair. I very nearly tipped her out and she decided to would be safer with her walking sticks! 29 Jun 2010 15:22 oh i can under stand it in some situations like with really old or ill dogs but im my opion thare is no need for a perfectly helathy dog to be in a pram not when they can and wont to talk 29 Jun 2010 15:15 The doggy prams have their place though - there was an elderly couple where I walk that had a really old peke that they took out in a pram, he couldn´t walk very far because he was so old and creaky, but they said he still liked to go out on his walk and get to smell things. It was very sweet and in that context a lovely thing for the dog - but it really irks me to see healthy dogs in one! 29 Jun 2010 14:44 lol .... i would love to see Margaret pushing her dogs in a pram .......not only would she need one huge buggy .....it would be so funny when i was on holiday in wales i saw a woman with one of those doggy prams ( witch i bloody hate ) i was expecting to see a small dog inside but it was this fully grown staffy ... she put him in it cos he pulled rather than either just put up with the pulling or do something about it she stuck the poor dog in the horrid thing he wonted to come out so much but she wouldnt let him ... i had to bite my tonge alot i dont know how i stopped my self from saying something 29 Jun 2010 14:33 Very surprised to hear this, my friend bought the breed into the UK originally and it´s a breed which I have taken an interest in and judge, I know at least four breeders and there dogs have superb tempranents, so sad to think this gentle breed is going down hill. 29 Jun 2010 14:32 Yep totally agree Claire. Both my papillons are "real" dogs they both love hill hiking getting muddy and playing with the big dogs!!!! I hate to see people treating little dogs like objects let me tell you if I didn´t walk my "toy dogs" then they would be climbing the wall after a day or so out of bordom papillons are such an active and smart little dog. I do mini agailty and attend training classes with my Angel boo and she loves it. I on the othr hand do love to pick them up cuddle and kiss them and yes I do talk to them in a baby voice and fuss over them the same as I do with Tinsel. On the other hand i do have to be a little more "firm" with Angel (as in no means no) as she can push her luck at times hahahaha. It annoys me when people think that just because a dog is small it does not need training or exercising. Dogs are dogs and what ever the breed they all need bringing up properly in order to be social animals. Although i must say my little ones will soon put the big dogs in their places if they are being too much!!!! The same as every breed of dog little dogs can get a bad reputation when yet again its the owners fault!!!! xxxx |
