Good Homes WantedHi, The Canine Psychology Centre is downsizing and I´m looking for homes and pack leaders for my two Staffies. Pics of both are on my profile. Hendrix is 2, a Pedigree blue, very funny, lovely temperament, quite high energy when anywhere new but calm and settled at home. Great on the walk, good recall, good with other dogs. Loves people. Due to size and strength and tendency to play mouth occassionally, I don´t think he´s suitable for small children. Doesn´t like cats. He´s been with me for a couple of months and had his temperament thoroughly assessed. He´s a great dog and will make an adorable pet. Harley is also approx 2, a smaller red staffie. Can be wary of new men but very affectionate and loyal once he knows you. Not suitable for small children and no good with cats. Excellent recall, very calm, good with other dogs. If you think you might be suitable for one or the other, please get in touch direct on... 07554 649272 james@conroy.ws From the topic: Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 10 Aug 2010 17:06 Hi both, yes I have indeed been heavily vetting the homes of anyone enquiring, and have insisted upon being able to check on the dogs after several weeks to make sure they are happy. They were both taken in with the intention of re-homing them - Harley was going to be put down by his owners, and Hendrix had to be rehomed in an emergency as his owner had a stroke and couldn´t take care of him. I wanted to assess both of their behaviour and work with them before helping them find loving new homes. I wish I could have kept them both, but I need to make space for new dogs who need my help to save them from death row. I can however report that Harley has found a fabulous new home with a professional young woman who lives alone, and works as a self employed journalist. she is at home all day, and Harley is getting lots of love and attention, as well as a strong pack leader. Both are getting on marvellously and Harley is enjoying trips to the local pub and lots of walks and exercise time. This for me is a perfect outcome. I had no intention of letting either of these dogs go to ´typical´ staffie owners. It gives me faith that decent people out there still love the breed and want to be a good owner to them instead of just having them as a trophy dog. All the best James 02 Aug 2010 10:17 and, if they really have to be rehomed, I hope you will vet/homecheck any potential rehomers and provide certain guarantees, ie, if the new homes doesn´t work out the rehomers must return the dogs to you, so that you don´t lose touch with these dogs and they don´t end up in a rescue centre or worse. 02 Aug 2010 09:59 I too find it sad to read, that you are having to down-size and feel the need to rehome the two Staffies..you of course have your reasons for this and this I perfectly well respect but I think that during these troubled time´s of finding home´s for many Staff´s and especially Bull´ys generally, perhap´s now isn´t the time to rehome them in particular but maybe consider rehoming a couple of your other dogs ??????. However, that said I do hope that you manage to find them those loving and knowledgable home´s should you decide to go ahead with the rehoming and I wish you all the very best with your search!. 02 Aug 2010 07:38 Given the high number of staffies looking for new homes at the moment, I can´t help wondering whether you really need to rehome these two. I´ve had a quick look at your profile pages and read what you´ve said about them and they look and sound like lovely dogs, and you seem to have done so much work with them that it´s such a shame that you are now seeking to rehome them. If at all possible, I do hope you´ll reconsider your decision here. |
