* A Really Interesting Article About Britain Being A Nation of Dog Killers *

I read this article just now and found it very interesting so would like to share it with others.

I´ve added the link for the article found on K9 Magazine, because it is too long to add here ready to read!.

Please click on link and read it, it certainly has lots to pause over - thank you.

Have just read the article and I´ve got to say I agree with Vena. As regards vet fees, both George and Millie are insured and I couldn´t consider having a cat or dog without insuring them. With George´s record for fighting and Millie´s luxating patellas, the vets bill would be running into thousands of pounds by now, and I´m sure if we´d not had insurance we´d have had to have taken out a loan to pay for Millie´s ops and after-care and possibly we´d still have been paying for that now - 3yrs later.

Quote and extortionate vets fees are all to blame.)not sure i entirely agree, yes we know vets fees are extortionate but people should be made aware of this BEFORE buying a puppy/dog,and some wouldn´t go to vets even if they were more reasonable, as for people not giving up their dog/s due to relation breakups, sometimes they have no option they may have to go into rented accommodation ,where no pets are allowed (or specific breeds) and most likely have to work far longer hours, children ECT: Much as i support people getting rescue dogs i do object to people being made to feel guilty should they decide to buy from a reputable breeder, we have covered before why a rescue might not suit everyone.the staffie/bull breeds situation i feel has not been helped by the fact they have become a status symbol thanks to the DDA and the media, somehow the only way i can see out of this mess is that ALL breeders have to be registered (but that´s another story !!
