Fox Terrier urinating

I´m wondering if someone can help me. We have just rescued 2 fox terriers from our friends. Casper is 7 and Lacey is 5. We have had them about 4 weeks now, and we have crate trained them because they chew. So, they stay in their cage when we are out and at night time. They have been fine in there since we got them. However, in the last week, the male Casper has been urinating in his cage several times a day. They are not locked inside for more than 2-3 hours, he is used to being left all day when he lived with his previous owner while he worked, which is why we took them on. He is not cocking his leg as if spraying his scent just standing there and doing it infront of me. I don´t think it is excitement. I think he might be ill? Anyone got any ideas? Thanks
