I think my cat has had a stroke.

Hello Cat,

I think Nuzlar has had a stroke, he is blind due to high blood pressure his medication is 1/4 5mg amlodipine per day. Today he has slightly lost the use of his left back and front legs. He is walking really wobbly, bit like he is drunk but is in no pain, puring, eating and drinking and sort of using the litter tray (with a little help with aim). He is also still using the left front paw to wash and wants to go out, just wanted your advice and to know if this is something he could recover from?

thanks Jennie xx

Hi Jennie,

It certainly does sound like your cat may have had a stroke and high blood pressure will make cats more vulnerable to the problem. Whether or not this is something he will recover from, if it is a stroke, then usually it is time that will tell, as it can take a few days before the function of the limbs comes back. However, it is important that you take him to your vet for a check-over to confirm that this is the cause of the problem and whether anything can be done to help him.

Let me know what they said.

Thanks

Cat
