Rehoming helpStardust has asked me this:- I have 2 cats still, and 1 visitor called Hugo who has caused total mayhem. He´s a stray who appeared out of nowhere, he was a starving/terrified tom cat who I ended up feeding, and cutting a long story short managed to get him to the vet to get him neutered. He´s a lovely cat with me now, but he is continuously nasty to my other 2 boys, so I am looking to re-home him. Sadly I´m now having to resort to shutting my 2 in at night, and my lodger (Hugo) in my conservatory/garden at night to give my boys a rest from his territorial bossy manner. My house isn´t calm anymore, and neither am I so I need a solution and soon! I hate seeing my own cats upset and nervous all the time, but I can´t just turn a blind eye to a cat that needs help either. I have been in touch with local rehoming centres, but they are all over flowing with cats needing homes. I have introduced adult cats to adult cats in the past, and it was incredibly difficult but this is something else! So if you have any ideas as to how to find Hugo a great home please let her know. I have put some information in 2 of my local vet surgeries and that´s it so far. There may be a very good solution but not until January when a friend of mine moves back to the area. If Hugo´s still with me, my friend is going to have him if he can get rented accommodation that will allow pets. It will be perfect if that works out, and would be a very happy ending as we would still get to see lots of Hugo and I know he´d have an excellent home :) 11 Sep 2010 08:05 well all i can advise is NOT on free ADS sites ppl get animals on thare and sell them on ....the animal is pushed from pillar to post and also thats whare dog fighters get bait you dont even wona think of that hunny maybe the best idea is in the vets ... or in a pet groomers ,, i really hope things start settlien soon so he can stay ... cats dont always get along even mine have fights at times most of the time they are ok but haveing 6 cats thares a bit of domance ( from the only female LOL ) is that him in your profile pic ? cos that is one lovely lookin cat 10 Sep 2010 12:26 Thanks, it didn´t work out this time but I´m still hopeful. The hardest part is knowing where to ´advertise´. It looks like Hugo´s staying with us for a while longer .... 03 Sep 2010 20:55 Well the Feliway diffusers DO work and I noticed a difference within 24 hours - a vet nurse friend recommended them and they were well worth the money. I have my first potential new Hugo owner coming over to meet us in the morning .... and now I am panicking! Will let you know how it goes. 03 Sep 2010 13:00 let us know how you get on hunny ... ive never used those pet claming products so im not sure if they work ..... good luck 31 Aug 2010 19:28 Just to clarify, Hugo has been around for many months although before castration would basically eat and go. He was more aggressive then, but around much less. Since being castrated he has gradually spent more and more time inside, therefore becoming a much bigger threat to my own pets. Things may improve in time, and I have on order some Feliway diffusers which I am told are quite effective so who knows what will happen. If the right home came along, particularly with no other cats in the household I would seriously consider rehoming purely because I have to put my own cats (who are both very big wimps!) first. 30 Aug 2010 21:43 maybe rehomeing isnt nessicary ....ive had this problem when i got mine its taken a year but my lot have clamed down and now live together happily how long have they had the cat becose its takes a long time a cat doesnt settle over night even more so when a cat is a little ferrel .... hope they find the perfect home for the cat ...if its as bad as being discribed maybe its better to put it with someone who has no other pets |
