Dew Claw

Dennis my JRT who is 14mths old has ripped his Dew claw for the 3rd time. The problem i have is that he doesnt like his feet being held, or restricted in anyway. The last two visit´s to the vets for the same thing resulted in him being sedated as he would not let the vet go near it. So the Vet has had to sedate him, the injection has to go in his bum as we cant put it in a vein, which he is not happy about & what concerns/worries me is him being repeatedly sedated. Can it harm him? I have decided that it would be best to remove his dew claws which i have already discussed with my Vet.

It is not bleeding at all & i wondered does this need a visit to Vets every time.
