What is the matter with people?Yesterday a man was witnessed pulling up in a car by West Heath. He got out of the car, let a dog out of the car, threw a stick for it to chase, jumped into his car and drove off. The dog has seen a vet, been posted on the Lost Dogs website and is being cared for by a prospective new owner - all thanks to the local dog-owning community. This is a gorgeous young red-coloured Golden Retriever bitch. The breeder probably was paid about £700 for her. Unfortunately she was not micro-chipped. We do not know if this man was the owner of the dog or had acquired her and was dumping her for some reason. The whole incident raises so many issues but the most pertinent is WHY WAS SHE NOT MICRO-CHIPPED. If she had been we could have (a) found the owner and (b) discovered the circumstances surrounding her being unceremoniously dumped by a busy road in the middle of winter. If your pet isn´t micro-chipped please, please, please get it done at the earliest opportunity - and watch your dog like a hawk. Don´t leave it outside a shop, in your car - and don´t even leave it in your garden if there is a chance somebody could take it. From the topic: Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 19 Apr 2011 05:44 Thanks to the "North London Dog Mafia" within two hours of being dumped this dog was being fostered in a beautiful home near the Heath with another older retriever. Subsequent dealings with Lost Dogs, Council Dog Wardens in all the local areas, Battersea, etc. by All Dogs Matter failed to reveal any reports of loss of this dog. She has now been formally adopted by the fosterer - a very happy ending thanks to the dog-owning community. 12 Dec 2010 10:25 My boy is chipped and would never leave him outside a shop but i know many ederly people who dont feel safe without taking their dogs to the shops and have little choice! My S-J´s "uncle" was stolen fron his garden, 1 yr & 1 wk later his Chip brought him home, please, please have your pets chipped. 11 Dec 2010 16:16 Member Removed Even if she was microchipped it does not prove who the real owner is, as she could of been sold several times. Yes its coming more & more often that people are dumping dogs from cars then driving off. 11 Dec 2010 13:24 What a complete sh!t...pardon my language but don´t know how this man can sleep at night. She sounds like a beautiful dog and I can only hope she finds a loving home soon and the individual responsible for dumping her is traced. Thankfully, mine is microchipped and tattooed and i wouldn´t dare leave her unattended anywhere, though yesterday i did see a lovely springer tied up outside a local post office. The poor thing looked so anxious so hope he/she wasn´t waiting long for their owner to return. |
