dental sticksnot sure about this one but a vet told me that dental sticks were pointless anf fatty infact they can be called denti stix if they even contain 3% of the active ingredient. i feel robbed why pay fpr what were not getting my vet said a pigs ear or smoked shank would do the exact same ting and was better as it was natural... any views?? ps he said plaque off was very good and the only non medical dental remedy he would truley recomend i have read reviews seems good bit pricey thou xxxx From the topic: Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 13 Feb 2011 19:24 thanks glad i posted this its been really good to hear what real dog owners find help as apposed too just money making gimics thanks all xxxx 13 Feb 2011 11:37 my chis cant really tolerate dentastix, i find ostrich tendons best for my chihuahuas they are a great natural chew that they love there are loads of natural chews on zooplus also the antlers as previously mentioned 09 Feb 2011 09:52 I recently started giving my dog dental sticks everyday and his teeth have really improved. You can buy shops own 7 packs for a £1 in Asda. 08 Feb 2011 11:18 You can get deer antler chews from this site in the UK http://www.puredog.co.uk/our-products.php They´re pretty good, completely natural too 08 Feb 2011 08:48 I´ve never bought dentistix for my dogs, and having worked in the pet food industry for a while I learnt a bit about the ingredients manufacturers put in their products and the marketing gimmicks they use. I think knuckle bones and chicken wings etc are definitely more effective and healthier for dogs, and i´ve started to use those with Millie. Sometime last year I did notice Millie´s upper back teeth and upper canines were looking in need of a clean so I bought a large pot of plaque off and I´ve been putting 2 scoops on Millie´s food ever since and can definitely say it works and can see a market improvement in her teeth - the scoop is tiny and I´m still on the same tub which I must´ve had for about 3 months now, so although it´s a bit expensive, it lasts a long time and it works. I brush Millie´s teeth too, but I think the plaque off was a good buy and would buy it again, even at that price. 08 Feb 2011 08:48 http://www.puredog.co.uk/our-products.php ............ http://www.pricedumper.co.uk/Deer+Antler+Dog/ 07 Feb 2011 20:52 melinda where can you get the deer antlwr chew i have not found a web site in uk that sells them i saw the deer hoofs advertised but only on americian web pages 07 Feb 2011 18:57 When i got my dog an found he was sesative to certian food´s i started to look into what was in his food an the more you look the more shocking stuff you find. Manufacturer´s get round it by using word´s we assosiate with good thing´s i.e. "meaty chunk´s" may not contain any meat at all but be meat flavored, i think it say´s some thing like reduces plaque by so many per cent on the dental stick´s but it dosn´t say is lots of healthier treats do a better job. It´s all down to clever wording an knowing pet owner´s want what´s best for their pet,s. 07 Feb 2011 11:20 Raw bones and chicken wings are a much more effective way of cleaning your dog´s teeth as the abrasive action of chewing the bone and the tearing of meat is a natural tooth cleaner and flosser, things like Dentistix are full of rubbish that has no real nutritional value to a dog. My dogs have the occasional natural pigs ear (without the chemical preservatives which are in most) and the Deer Antler chews also go down well in this house (last ages too) 06 Feb 2011 23:56 There is nothing written on the packets I have, maybe because I buy the big boxes of 36 its written on box.But Im going to check this out, and thanks for bringing this to my attention. |
