ShampooHi - Was wondering what shampoo people used on their dogs?? As you know with my papillons they need a lot of tlc and grooming on their coats, they prob get bathed more than a regular dog would. I have brought loads of various different shampoos and I always have to use a good conditioner on them too. I have used smart groom, various ones from pet shops and im using "pet head" at the moment (yes the pet version of bed head lol) Anyway I was chatting to a lady the other day who had a pom woth her and I asked her what she used to bath her dog with as it had a beautiful shining coat. she told me she used Tresamae (human shampoo and conditioner????) and thats what her breeder told her to use and uses on all her show dogs too??? because they have a coat - I always thought you could not use human products on dogs????? But if its ok to do I would prob try it?? What do people think???? I spend a fortune on products for my papillons (With Tinsel my collie its so much more straight forward lol) anyone with any info would be great. Thank You xxxx From the topic: Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 13 Sep 2011 09:01 I use a natural dog shampoo - smell lovely and all natural http://www.dogsnaturally.co.uk/p845/Comfy+Dog+Oatmeal+Shampoo/product_info.html 11 Aug 2011 22:00 Hi, Yes I agree re over bathing like my Collie only gets a bath as and when she needs like if she rolls in poop or really smells lol But with the papillons they have a single thin coat its more hair like then dog coat like if that makes sense and it requires a lot of tlc regular bathing (once a month) I thought that too about the ph level in human shampoo. I always use a good conditioner after and an anti tangle groom spray inbetween. I always use dog products and up until speaking to this lady id never thought of using human ones on a dog - I guess every now and again wont hurt but will stick with my pet head for now i think. Thank you xx 11 Aug 2011 17:48 How often do you bath them Liz, as Human shampoo has the wrong PH level some also contain ingredients that will strip the coat, also bathing to often will dry out the natural oils in skin and coat. 11 Aug 2011 16:33 l very rarely bath my dogs so make my own oatmeal shampoo, lots of people use human ones just be careful which one Yes Michael we get johnsons baby shampoo here which is very good, ive also used this in the past with good results http://www.dorwest.com/Catalogue/Other-Products/Pennyroyal-Dog-Cat-shampoo 11 Aug 2011 16:25 i´ll use a baby shampoo...like johnsons baby shampoo (not sure if its sold in the uk) but i´ve never had a problem using baby shampoo on the dogs |
