My Blog 30 Apr 2007 23:10 30 Apr 2007 23:10 Hi There. I'm whats known as a Jacobin Pigeon. I live in Ireland, although its a bit cold in the winter I still enjoy life to the full. At the moment I'm the proud father of two eggs which I incubate during the day. The Misses takes over at night. It only takes 18 days for our eggs to hatch and then herself and I have the job of feeding our squabs (term for baby pigeons) for about 4 weeks before they are ready to fend for themselves. Then off we go again with 2 more eggs. Pretty quick turnaround, this explains the sheer volume of my feral cousins out there. I share my loft with about 80 other fancy pigeons these include breeds such as Indian Fantails, Helmets, Flying Tumblers, a very fat pair of Kings & about 30 other Jacobins in various colours.I'll post some new images of my flat mates on here shortly and also an image of my babies as soon as they hatch. Be warned though Baby pigeons are only attractive to their parents. They are born blind and almost bald, all be it for a tiny bit of yellow down. Will keep you updated.
