It's been a while since I've done my diary as I've been very busy studying for my exams. After lots of coffee and chocolate (mum) and liver treats (me) I passed my bronze Good Citizen test. It's Hector's turn tonight so I've got my tail knotted (I can't cross it very well) wishing him well. It was great fun and everyone in the class got a rosette. Our trainers are fab! Apparently they remember my predecessor, Toby, who was MUCH HARDER WORK than me. This I must work on. I can't be outdone in the naughty stakes. Maybe I'll try one of his walking on the lead tricks... Apparently when he didn't want to do what Mum wanted, he'd walk slightly behind her and nip her on the bottom. Trouble was, it made the trainers laugh too much to squirt him with the dreaded water bottle. Hmmm. Maybe I'll try it when she's least expecting it.

Apart from being a (sometimes good) student, I've played with Hector, who came to stay for a week (I've got the groovy red collar). I had to sleep in my crate when he was here but I was sooooo tired, I didn't mind. Mum's moved my lovely bed into the hallway now so I'm really snug. She says it is because my morning singing (I like to serenade mum and dad about 6.30 to 7am when I'm ready to get up) was annoying and the neighbours could hear and the hallway is further from their bedroom. But I think it's just an excuse to appreciate the finer points of my arpeggios and scale practice. Though it's funny mum doesn't smile at me in the morning when she finally does get up... Being grown up now (7 months, you know!), I've realised that humans just don't understand the finer things in life: sniffing bottoms; pig's ears; singing; stealing someone else's slobbery ball; rolling in fox poo; opening the mail - with vigour; chewing the skirting board; peeing on a tree and pooing right outside a busy bus stop...

Well, I'm a whole five months old now. Didn't get a cake but was given a fat carrot to eat. Hector and I have just been to visit where we were born and had a first strip. When mum told me I didn't realise it involved someone yanking out handfuls of fur, but I was very brave and didn't moan. Hector, though, was a real fusspot! He made such a racket I thought he'd fall off the table. I kept watching but he didn't. We both look very handsome now (but then, I always was). The best bit was being told I was a bit underweight and could eat more. Yippeee!! Was there ever better news for an Airedale?!

It's been while since my last blog, but I've been focusing on growing. I've been having lots of fun visiting different parts of the country - had a great time with some of mum's friends in Yorkshire where I watched some boxing (or was it wrestling?) on telly while she was out. Then Hector came to stay again cos they didn't have any water in Cheltenham. Mum says she was ready to murder me cos I kept waking up and shouting in the night. But all I wanted was some fun. I think she used ear plugs in the end as no one came. Looked a bit grim in the morning though. Don't know why. Anyway, Hector and I had great fun. I taught him how to pulverise wood, and how to steal and chew on an old dog lead and Halti. Apparently, mum and dad had an Airedale before and it was his. Very tasty, I thought, and the plasticky bits on the Halti make a very satisfying crunch. We had a great time running around Alexandra Palace - Hector's a bit naughty and won't come back. I only do cos mum carries really tasty liver treats. And then I don't always. Why should I when there's a tasty bit of fox poo to eat? I'm just tidying up the grass and don't understand the fuss and bother humans create about it. I only got a bit in my hair after all.

This is my brother, Hector (he's the less handsome one on the left). He came to stay for the weekend so we had a good old wrestle and run sesson. He lives with my dad's mum and dad so we get to see each other quite a lot. He's taller than me but I'm a bit fatter (though I like to think of it as being of a comfortable build) because his mum says he won't eat much. If you ask me, he must be a changeling. My mum says no self-respecting Airedale EVER refuses food. In fact, I've just discovered that having a long snout means that it fits into bags and pockets really well! I've found so many tasty, dusty things that way.
