My sister MAHARANI ISADORA passed away 12.08.07 and we had our disagreements, but Isadora was so much stronger when we were young, she always won the arguments, but I got my own back over the years, because I am very clever with the bones. I wait until everyone has had theirs and then I park myself on top of the stairs and growl at anyone trying to climb the stairs. Serves them right, trying to push me into a corner. When I was a little baby, Mummy let me stay with various different people, but I was never good at staying away from home and I used to cry a lot. The strange aunties and uncles did not like it and kept returning me back home. Eventually, the penny must have dropped, because it was decided I no longer had to stay with other strangers. Since then I made sure to never leave again. When I met 'Tosh' although he was short, he was a very handsome Pedigree Corgi and with such a jolly nature, I was 4 years old and something very exciting happened on Human Mummy's bed. During the next two months, didn't feel so hot with strange activities in my body. Mummy kept talking to my tummy and told me I was going to have babies. To think I am like 6 ft tall, whilst Tosh my handsome dreamboat, only reached me knee high. I lied down on the bed, whilst holding my tail sideways. It was truly wonderful. Mummy walked into the bedroom and shrieked, but she was not really cross and petted us both on the head. I tried to stand up, but Tosh was hanging down from my rear end. Eyes sparkling. I became very fat after that.It was during the cold season and strange movements occurred mid-December. Mummy kept talking to my tummy and laughed every time I felt this 'kick' inside my belly. I guess, I was not sick, although I felt very strange. Then I felt all kinds of strange movements and I started trembling. Mummy cried with joy, oh look they are moving down the 'birth canal'? What would I know. I was very thirsty. As if she knew, Mummy kept bringing fresh water bowls and blankets were placed on the couch with bedding on the floor. All this commotion, next I felt something pop out of me. That's when it hit me and I instantly went to work, cleaning and eating and washing my first baby. Wow, all 6 of them in one go. Mummy said, they were all boys. This all happened 19th December 1999. The night was time for rest, but something was not quite right. More movements and pushing and low and behold the 20th December a little girl was born, we called her Celeste. She is a real life wire.Isadora always was in Mummy's shadow, but I am the explorer and like the boys. Celeste must have inherited this from me as she gave birth to her first litter when she was not even two year's old. Naughty Celeste and Wessex, brother and sister. Faithful however is a sweet grand-puppy. When Celeste gave birth, I ate all the birth sacks and taught her what to do. I tried to sit on her and her pups, like the good old days when I gave birth, giving me an opportunity to growl at Isadora. This was my territory. Mummy always gave a lot of attention to me when the babies were born.Izzy was the favourite at school and I am not so bright, but I have my own skills. I am far more athletic and still jumped a 6 ft tall fence, just after seeing Mr. Vet when I was 12 years old. These days, now I am working my way towards 14, I am slowing down somewhat, although the boys still give me a run for my money and they all chase me when we jump out off the car. I guess it is what keeps me young. Since Isadora left us, I have been very sad and miss my sister. It was always fun to get into a fight with her and we used to pretend growl who had more strength. I don't go to school anymore, but Mummy still chants every day and this is very relaxing when we get up in the morning and before dinner in the evening. A long time ago, a half sister Angelique had been to see Mr. Vet and they took away a leg. She was very sick and I always start to shake when people are not well. Mummy says it is one of my special gifts. My life is one of bouncing around and chasing the boys. I am not clever with tricks like Isadora, Celeste or Faithful. Like the boys, we prefer to use our noses. We also have had many cats in the house and I love the cats. When I had milk and no babies, the cats would come to me for drinkies. We are very close. Always with the boys, not so much with the girls. Mummy cooks fresh food every day and in the morning we get fresh bones. My hair is not so shiny anymore and less black. I am however in good health and enjoy keeping Mummy comfortable now Isadora has gone. Wessex and I take it in turns. We know Mummy loved Isadora the most and we were happy, because Isadora was a good sister to me and auntie to my off-spring. I hope to be around a while longer, but I am no spring chicken, although I do love my cuppa tea after the evening walk. Beauty. 0 Comments | |
