The Avairy (Budgie/Cockatiels & Conure)

We were all very much in a serious state of distress back on the 9-12-07.
Overnight we had a very much unwanted and unexpected visitor,eat it´s way into our avairy and after pigging on some fallen seed,decided to take our old fellow,one of the cockatiel gang.
Mum had shut up as normal before darkness had fallen and we were perched all snug and dry,whilst the weather raged outside.The Rat,chewed it´s way up through the flooring under the door and made a hole big enough to fit a tennis ball through.
When mum came to feed us the next morning,she noticed the tell-tale signs of the intrusion from outside and on opening us up and doing a stock count,to her dismay she noticed the hole and the loss of the old boy.

Later on,our avairy was fantastically repaired and mum laid plates of rat bait down underneath both the avairy and the hen-house.
She noticed a trail of grey feathers leading along the back of the avairy but sadly it was too late for the old boy and we miss him alot.

Mum,says to all avairy and poultry owners,keep your area´s rodent food free by regular cleaning of all enclosure´s,not leaving food bowls down on floor level and regular maintenance of enclosures,to make sure that they are gnaw proof and regularly baited.
She hope´s that such attentive husbandry,will help others avoid such devastation as what happened to us.

sorry to hear about the little white budgie perhaps your mum will get you another female,ha ha ,dad wants to tame me and teach me to talk so i cannot have a companion until i am tame.bonnie keeps trying to lick my cuttlefish but she cant get her tongue through the bars,i am not scared of them and like to sit talking to them,if they leave the room i shout and they come running back i have them well trained,luv charlie x

thanks to you all for being my friends i was feeling a bit lonely bonnies my friend but she just sits staring at me ,mum put a pretend budgie in my cage so now bonnie stares at that instead,bye for now charlie xxxxxx
