Bert and Ernie

Bert and Ernie were hatched a day apart (Bert was first) at the end of December 2005. Because gary and I spoke to them even when they were in their eggs, they were incredibly bonded with us. Gary was Bert's Mom and I was Ernie's. They'd follow us EVERYWHERE and got incredibly upset if we left them alone.

When they were very little, they'd harrass Chester (our HUGE cat) and steal his food. That was a hilarious picture, indeed!!!!

Unfortunately, Bert was stolen from our garden and Ernie missed her brother so much, we thought it was better for her to go live with other ducks (and chickens), so she now lives down the road on a small holding. She doesn't see me as "Mom" anymore, either, but at least she's happy.
