I love my walks, particularly if we go somewhere new - I want to explore as much of the world as I can after 6.5 years spent in racing kennels! We Greyhounds may only need 2 20minute walks a day, but we can go for much longer very happily! After my walk I love nothing better than sprawling on the sofa with my legs in the air - I´m such a typical Greyhound.
I´m nicknamed Funny Face because when I was racing my bottom jaw got broken and is now a bit askew. I´m covered in scars which I try to add to on a regular basis. Since I´ve come to my retirement home in the Cotswolds, I´ve lost three claws, one of which led to the amputation of the whole digit, and nearly died from blood poisoning after an argument with a cat (well, it is MY garden, but he got away and still sits on the fence to taunt me).
My favourite foods are dry bread (which makes walking past the people feeding the ducks in the village quite a trial - it´s not the ducks I´m after, it´s the bread!) and milk, and my favourite walk takes the path past the school, because I can usually ferret out a bit of discarded sandwich in the hedge.
Generally I´m very laid back, and I love people so everyone is welcome to make a fuss of me.
I was quite successful on the racetrack (racing name was Winetavern Zola), good enough to keep me on there longer than most, nearly six years, winning more than 10% of my races, and I still love a good run around in the fields today, although now it´s just for fun and it´s great to tease Titch by running within a few inches of her so she can´t quite catch me! She gets so frustrated.
