This is Sinbad, the friendly little lion!
I have adopted him from Born free. When my best friend saw the lovely chap she adopted him too!
He is 6 years old, and was rescued from a Romanian Zoo, where he was kept in a cramped rusty cage, with just a tyre to chew on and an old log, the floor was soil which would turn into puddles of mud, making his beautiful mane all matted and caked with mud. He is only a little lion, just 80cm long and 20st in weight, he is just half the size of a normal male lion, his teeth are broken and worn too.
He Now lives in Shamwari wildlife reserve in Africa, where is is so much happier, his enclosure is bigger than a football pitch, and he is back in Africa where he belongs. He would never survive in the wild, but now he has his own little bit of Africa. He loves sunbathing or sleeping in the shade, and is happy and safe there.

Well this week i recieved my update on my adopted lion Sinbad, and just thought that some of you might like to know how he is getting on.
Well one of Sinbad´s carers died recently, and he seemed a bit quiet for several weeks, he was obviously missing his friend. The two lionesses in a separate enclosure don´t really pay all that much attention to sinbad anymore either! The other day Sinbad roared so loudly in their direction and the lionesses took so long to come down to him that he lost interest, and went into the bush to groom himself, when they eventually arrived he rolled in the sandy soil in front of them "look at me" so to speak, and kicked up the soil with his back feet!
Sinbad is still really quite weak in his spine and his back legs though, so they couldn´t really put him with those two lionesses permanently, he needs a companion with similar problems to himself ,the lionesses might well attack him because he is so small.
So he is still alone at the moment, however he was on his own in the Romanian zoo, where he lived before, but he now has the distraction of the big enclosure to patrol and explore, and the sounds and smells of other lions around him. And he has his regular meals which he loves, he can drag huge pieces of meat away despite his small stature and worn down teeth!
