Bob

My name is Bob, and I first met James when I was around two years old. My previous owner had put a chain around my neck when I was a baby, then just left me in the garden. I grew, but the chain did not, and when James first saw me it had grown into my skin and I was very sore and poorly. I was very angry with my owner, who had just dumped me at a rescue centre saying he´d found me in the street in such a mess. He gave a fake number and disappeared. No one at the rescue centre could get near me. I was very aggressive because I was scared that everyone was out to hurt me like my old owner. I stayed in a cage for two weeks but I wouldn´t let anyone even open the door. I barked and growled at them. They were going to put me to sleep because they thought I was dangerous and couldn´t be helped.

But one day James, who specialises in working with dogs like me, came along. He spent about two hours slowly moving into my cage, and eventually, after a lot of protesting, I let him in. I saw he was a nice person who understood me!

James worked with me for eight months, and made me the calm, balanced, happy and completely soft dog I am today! To thank him, I now work as his Dog Friday when he has consultations with other problem dogs, helping those dogs to see how balanced and happy they could be. I love my job!
