My Interests
I have always loved fish and love to keep tropical fish in my tank. If anyone needs help in choosing tropical fish i would be happy to help. In my life i have owned many kinds of tropical fish and just love watching them.

Most tropical fish eat fish flakes and bloodworms but creatures such as the crab and crayfish eat frozen foods and crestation tablets.

Crayfish are great animals to have in your tank and dont cost much to buy and look after. If you didnt want a crayfish in your tank you could buy a british crayfish and put it in your pond. You can tell the sex apart from them because the females are larger than the males. My crayfish is a tropical crayfish and loves pots to sleep in so it would be a great idea if you were going to buy one if you could put some caves and rocks in with it. They grow to fit the tank they live in but in a large tank they can grow to 20cm although mine is only aprox 10cm. They have been known to eat small fish in the tank but that is very rare and only happens when they are underfed.

I own other fish such as gouramis which are lovely fish to watch and can grow to 4 inches long. I would strongly recomend them everyone. But the fish i would recomend to first time owners are neon tetras as they have a lovely temperment and warm to any fish already in the tank.

I love all my fish and i think they are just wonderful, although they dont live as long as other pets and dont do tricks i think they are great. I have found that all of my fish have different personalities, thats why i like them. Oh and my cats really like them, but dont worry they´ve never found a way into the tank yet!!! :)

Two days ago, I discovered that my oldest fish was dead in the back of the tank. I would have put it down to old age if it wasn´t for it being CHOPPED IN HALF!! Straight away I though... Crayfish! But it was really wierd, the Crayfish hadn´t ever eaten a fish before. It gets angry at the big ones sometimes and one cut one of the Gouramis tenicles but nothing resulting in death! About two months ago another one of my fish died of old age, I saw it dead but decided to get it out later because I was in a rush, but when I came back it had been eaten, most probably by the Crayfish. Do you think the Crayfish killed the latest fish or just ate it once it was dead? If its killing fish it will have to be put in a seperate tank but this would cost money. What should I do?

Just looking at your tropical fish...r they marine fish? We have a 30L Biorb (our first tank) and have 2 platys, 2 male guppies and 4 ember tetras. I love watching them and our cat and dog have shown no interest in the tank whatsoever, it´s as if they haven´t noticed it´s there, which I´m amazed about.
