Jack

I got Jack from a college friend who unfortunately didn´t actually know how to care for them. I bought Jack off a friend along with another gecko which I named Jill, within months Jill took a turn for the worst but despite some trips to the vets and treatment she passed away from Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD). When we first took her to the vets he said she must have been suffering from MBD for years and recovery wasn´t likely though i tried anyway.
Their enclosure was way too small, the first thing I did when i got then was bought them an enclosure twice the size they were living in at the time, they were housed on sani chips which Jill was eating, this was clogging up her system so that was soon replaced with something more practical. they were not being given calcium so had to buy that myself, the vitamin powder the college friend gave me was for day time fruit eating geckos, these are nocternal insectivours! so had to buy the correct vitamin suppliment. The enclosure was being heated by a small red bulb, this was replaced with a proper reptile heat bulb, the original owner stated she did not like insects so just chucked a load in occassionally, this way jack was eating most of the food and poor ill Jill was hardly getting any, I changed this method of feeding to feeding with tongs. The insects wern´t being gut-loaded either so I started doing this too! Lots of improvements were made there...I also noticed Jack was licking at his bottom so took him to the vets to have him wormed too.

Enough of his past though, his character is friendly, bossy at times but easy going in general with a keen interest in food and sleeping! :P
