Average rating My Rating Comments 26 Jan 2011 15:36 Very interesting and I would agree with alot of his thoughts/suggestions :) 03 Nov 2009 16:01 John Rogerson talks so much sense and he has been an inspiration to me personally in my role of instructor and advisor. I run sessions in North London, mostly outside in a park, where general good manners is expected. We teach real life skills and a develop responsible attitudes to dog ownership. I am saddened that many people do not want to hear what we say, until it is almost too late. It is people that allow their young dogs to learn to manipulate, to be a nuisance and run riot, interfering with other dogs, animals and people. Indeed, I have visited many clubs that still run classes based on obedience style exercises, and I have visited puppy sessions that allow uncontrolled free play, promoting owners to go out ´dog spotting´ in the name of socialisation. I rarely see the family ´mongrel´ as a companion dog any more! 02 Nov 2009 19:04 Absolutely fascinating. Agree with the competitive obedience part especially. I train a dog for a Special Needs School, her social skills have been our main focus. Thanks John. If we invested the money into the puppy social skills programmes instead of breed and rescue, I feel that the problems would diminish drastically. |
