Password (for your eyes only) | My Message Wall 01 Feb 2008 15:09 Hello Veronika, Thank you for your lovely message and I am so glad that you decided to make the correct decision and leave 'Lilian' behind at home when you went to Slovakia (I am right in thinking that you've been already or are you still planning that holiday ???? - sorry but your message kind of indicated that you've not long been, which is why I ask this question). If and when you plan to return to Slovakia, permanently, then I would strongly advise that nearer the time, you contact the Slovakian Embassy either back home in the country or the one here in the UK,if there is one as I'm not to sure,I'm afraid but would imagine that we do have one, probably in London, somewhere. As BSL is always on the change in all countries,it would be unwise for me to comment that when the time come's in 2-3 years, that all would be fine for you to take 'Lilian' home with you,if they have done what Germany has done and BANNED the breed amongst many others,as you would not be allowed to import her into the country at all. I am sure that as things stand at present, you would be able to take her over there, but I cannot be 100% and so this is why,I state clearly, that when the time come's for you to be considering returning home......DO contact the authorities in the know, who will be able to advise you accordingly. As for the transportation of the dog,to Slovakia......most definately, fly her out as 1.It is quicker and hence less stressful for the animal and 2. It is the only way that you would be able to get her into the country,as you wouldn't be able to take her through France or Germany, because of the Bans,as already mentioned......therefore flying her direct from the UK to Slovakia, would be the ONLY way of importing her,so long as between now and 2-3 years time,Slovakia DO NOT decide to ban the breed. If they do...you will NOT be able to take 'Lilian' home with you at all, which is terribly sad and which I hope that you do not, have to go through. Do not worry about things now as it's 2-3 years away.....but nearer the time,we will look into it for you and hope that things will go according to plan. Take care now, hugs to 'Lilian' and we'll speak soon. Arfer & Lee 22 Jan 2008 20:20 Hi Veronika, I honestly don't where this has come from BUT I can assure you that GERMANY has many, many breeds of dogs banned including all Bull breeds. The advice I got was actually from the Public Relations Officer of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breed Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and I have reams and reams of official paperwork in fron tof me stating all the BSL laws in the EU countries....Germany being the worst and most ruthless. By all means check out with various embassies BUT believe me make sure you find a reputable source for your information or you could end up in very serious trouble and even more so for Lilian. Take care and speak soon. Love Mary x 21 Jan 2008 21:00 Dearveronika, Have just received the email that I was waiting for regarding your trip. To confirm what I had already found out ......ONLY KC registered Staffords with paperwork are ALLOWED in France. Alot of Germany count's the Stafford as dangerous dogs and they are therefore banned. Belgium and Austria are OK but there are doubts on the others, especially now we know what we do about Slovakia. She has suggested that you could try contacting the various countries Embassies to find out for sure what their policy/law is regarding doggy visitors but she strongly recommends that as two of the countries are certain NO GO area's and there is a stong risk to your Stafford when travelling from BSL risk.....that you DO NOT take the dog with you and leave it safely at home with a friend or such.(This was funnily enough what I said in my last message to you after telling you about Slovakia). So sorry to be the bearer of bad and disappointing news but in the best interest for Lilian...please leave her at home safe and sound and enjoy your trip alone.....those two weeks will soon pass, you'll see. I hope that I have been of some help to you and I look foward in hearing from you soon, take care and bye for now. Love Mary xx 21 Jan 2008 19:47 Hi Veronika, Have just found out that Slovakia has introduced BSL into it's country and has sadly followed the example as set by Germany and a number of other EU countries. The breeds include APBT,Dogo Argentino,Fila Brasileiro,Bull Terrier, Dobermann,Rhodesian Ridgeback,Rottweiler and Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I am still awaiting to hear details from my lady........but that is the latest that I have found out so far, through my own steam. I'll be in touch as promised when I hear from the appropiate people.
