Mary 16 Oct 2007 21:47 hi yes i know what you mean about bonfire night and yes i used to love it until i saw a group of lads throwing fireworks at a dog when i was out walking pip. that was about 2 years ago. i took the dog back to mine, we called him tyler but he got pshcological problems and we couldnt keep him coz he wasnt safe with kids, we gave him to a lady who worked as a dog trainer. so yeh as u can imagine dont like it so much now and my pets have never liked it. on bonfire night i usually just sit at home to give them cuddles 13 Oct 2007 22:52 hi how have you and your pets been and what have you been up to. i am dog sitting for a black dog called tara shes amazing lol i dont wanna give her back 10 Sep 2007 12:05 hi are you ding canine phychology? i ask because im intrested in working wit animals butwould like a hands on job wit thm. does the course your on have hands on experience or is it something completely difrent? 10 Sep 2007 02:00 hi tania, a very good discussion. heres wat i think.... 1. i think a responsible dog owner is omeone who understands the needs and demands of certain breeds. 2.i think all fault is down to the owner. all dogs are trainable if this is done right. any untrained dog i a time bomb waiting to explode and as a dog cannot train itself all blame lies with the owner. 3.i dont think there is any such thing as a killer gene. yet again it is the upbringing of the dog that counts. any dog can attack and just because a rottie will do more damage than a chiwawa doesnt make them any more agressive 4. when dogs attack i think the owner should be forced to take them to a training class specifically made for these circumstances and the dog should attend these classes untill he/shehas passed an exam. infact i feel all dog owners should have to attend training classes 5.im unsure of this answer as any dog that attacks has a reason even if this reason cannot be seen by someone without the know how on canine behavior but its still there and maybe the dog doesnt intend to kill and just doesnt realize how vunerable its victim is. besides humans kill all the time and they are not killed for this. 6.yes i do thin the owner needs to be punished but also taught. they should be given a fine as people will react to this more and are more likely to pay attention and then the owner and the dog shuld have to attend a training class designed for these circumstances and only leave when they each pass an exam. 7.i dont think there is any dangerous dog type and i wouldnt single out any breed as dangeroud as i said above its all in the training and any dog could attack not certaian breeds. 8.i dot know to much but i know they have singled dogs such as pit bulls, staffies, rotties and dobbies out and classed them as dangerous. i also know that pitbulls and staffies must be muzzled and kept on a lead, would a human liked to betreated in this way if they hit someone or when they buse animals. and i have heard that they are trying to kill out pitbulls completly by demanding all puppies be neautered but im unsure wether its true. 07 Sep 2007 21:51 Hi Tania Your dissertation raises some very important points and I hope you will continue to let Petstreet members know about your research. | My Human Friends 3 Friends You must log in to ask or accept friendship. |
