I have just come back from a trip to Sweden. I stayed with a couple who have become friends through email. They keep Lionheads and Belgian Hares. They told me that there aren´t any Rabbit rescue centres in Sweden that they know of. Anyone wanting to breed rabbits must attend a 2 day course at their own expense, roughly £120, probably plus a hotel. They are then given a certificate. I can´t tell you much more, but the general ethos of owning any animal in Sweden is "if you can´t afford to look after it properly you can´t have it" There is no PDSA to give cheaper treatment even to perhaps hard up people like pensioners. They are much more frightened of being reported for their animals not having hay and water at all times.
