Me, my dogs and my cat are missing the freedom of the countryside! We are moving back to the countryside, probably in Northumberland, within the next 6 months :) I own two collies, one elderly cat, three guinea pigs (although I´m looking for a young boar to go with my other single boar as they like company and I don´t want him to be onhis own!), one hamster, three gerbils and two chinchillas. They are all rescues, so they´ve all come with a past, some more difficult than others, but they are all amazing, and so trusting, despite what they have been through. One of my guinea pigs was found wandering the street! He was in a right state and now he loves nothing more than a cuddle! I´m in the middle of a career change which is why we´ve moved, so hopefully our lives can return to normal again! I work as a research ecologist, so I work from home mostly, if I´m not then I´m out surveying for wildlife, which the dogs are happy to help with! Yes things are a bit stressful at the moment but can only get better from now on.. Yes all my creatures were unwanted for one reason or another.. You sound like me - outside at the first opportunity, enjoying nature. I´m an insect fanatic - my favs being odonata & beetles. I´m lucky to be involved with the dragonfly & damselfly survey in the Cotwold Water Park. This is the 2nd of a five year study & the data will eventually form part of a national dragonfly atlas. Working with bugs is a great stress reliever!!! Was interested to see that your male gerbil is neutered.. I have yet to find a vet who will do it although I would think their, er, ´equipment´ is big enough to make it a quite straightforward op..!! LOve all your pets.
