Poor Ben

Feeling sad at the moment. Ben came to me as a rescue from an Irish farm after having been knocked down by a farm vehicle. He has three legs but copes brilliantly. A few weeks back he suddenly couldn´t walk well. I rushed him to the Vets and he underwent an emergency x-ray and now I have been told he has hip dysplasia and spondylosis. The Vet cannot offer him a hip replacement because he is short of four legs. I feel so sad. She said he will have a shorter life due to the pain which they eventually will struggle to control. However rather than keep him on a lead I am letting him do more or less what he wants as I feel it is best he has a shorter life and a happy one rather than be restrained for the remainder of his years. I hope I am doing the right thing.
