Today i have collected 2 new pets to my growing family, they are 2 male degus called Smudge & Bubbles and are adoreable. I have not had degus in a long time so i will be keeping these. They came from a lady who has cared for them very well and was very sad to see them go but she´s moving and couldn´t take them with her. I will add some photo´s once they have settled and i take some.

My daughter Lucy is getting better and will be going back to school after the half term break although she will miss every Tuesday because she has to go to the hospital and have her casts removed her feet etc moved abit move and then back into double plaster-cast. This is a long process and we can only hope that at the end of it she will be able to walk better.

Just throught i'd let everyone know my daughter is now home from the hospital and is doing well.
The doctors decided not to cut her tendons this time but to give her injections into the muscles in the legs (she was still put to sleep for this). These injections contain amonsgt other things botox and they work by relaxing the muscles and tendons so the doctors can gradually over the coming weeks move her feet etc into their collect postions. So now we have to go up weekly to the hospital where they take off the plastercasts then move her feet etc a little futher and then put new plastercasts on. This hopefully will work to stretch everything without them having to cut them. It is going to be a long and painfull process for her but she seems to be takeing it with a pinch of salt this is the fourth time she has had this type of op so i surpose you can say she used to it. I don't think i will ever get used to it through. Night times are the worse at the moment she is sleeping with me in my hubby and i's bed while my hubby sleeps in her bed, this is so it's easier for me to comfort her when she's in pain and i can give her some more meds to help stop the pain. The pain will get better over the next few days but in the mean time not much sleep for me but that's what mothers are for isn't it??
Thank you to everyone for their kind messages its nice knowing people are thinking of her.

Hi all just thought that i would write this blog as i need a bit of support next week.
My daughter who is 9 years old has cerebral palsy & epilepsy and next Wednesday (15th May) she goes into hospital for a operation on both her legs and will then be in double plaster-cast for up-to 10 weeks,
The operation will cut and stretch the tendons in her calf muscles on both her legs this is very painful for her but she needs it done, she had her ankle tendons done last year and she will continue to have operations like this because in cerebral palsy children when they grow the muscles and tendons don't. If the op works at least she will be able to walk a bit better. Her epilepsy also causes problems because when she comes round she fits and needs lots of drugs to stop this. This time they are hoping to give her some drugs before the op to stop the fitting before it starts but the downside of this is that she will be very sleepy and not with it for over 24 hours.
I just wanted to tell my friends here on petstreet now as i might not be able to get on here much after next wed.
Below is a photo of her with her big brother Ronald.

I took Sky to the vets today to be sprayed and now i feel so awful cos she looks so sad.
Ronald had to carry her indoors because she is still very sleepy and now she is in her bed just sleeping.
I know its better for her to have this op but looking at her now i feel awful.
Will she forgive me?
My vet Ann said she was wonderful she went to sleep quickly and woke up and didn't moan. Ann was doing other male dogs today but as soon as they woke they moaned until she gave them some more painkiller (like most human males hey!!!)
She has had some painkiller now but not because she was moaning its just because Ann told us to give her some at 7.30pm. Sky doesn't feel like eating yet but she is drinking so i don't think i need to worry too much.
I've got to go through this all again on Monday as the 2 kittens Jaffa & Honey are going for their ops. I wonder how they will be?

Wow the last few weeks have been busy together with my normal day to day stuff i have taken on 10 new animals.
I strikes me that i can go for weeks with not much happening and then all off a sudden i get lots of calls.
The first one was for 4 hens i got them from a lady who need to downsize her animals because she had too many and couldn't cope. They are in great condition and lay eggs daily, they are 4 black identical hens so rather then try to name them separtly my kids and i have decided to call them GIRLS ALOUD minus one of course. This go's along with my theme for hens as my other 2 hens are called BEYONCE & BANANARAMA. After a period of hen picking GIRLS ALOUD soon realised that BEYONCE is the boss and now they all get along fine.
I then got RUBY the rat she used to belong to a young man who has now gone off to collage and left RUBY with his mum who althrough she loved animals she felt she couldn't love RUBY like she should, so after discussing it with her son she decided that RUBY need a new home. RUBY is quite nervous and hides alot but she is a lovely little girl and i'm sure with time i can bring her round.
Next came a little hamster called PUFFY he is a Roborovskis hamster and he was'nt getting on with his litter mates so his owner decided he needed a new home so he came to me. I have had little russians before but i have never had a Roborovskis hamster before. PUFFY is so cute and one of my boys Matthew adores him. Matthew just loves hamsters he has a way with them we once had a hamster that bite everyone but Matthew never got biten by him. Matthew is 14 and is studying hard as he wants to get into vet school.
Then within 2 days i got 2 male rats and 2 male guineas.
My son Stephen has called the 2 rats ITCHY & SCRATCHY they came from a gentleman who was very sad to see them go. He had to rehome them as his landlord decided no one was aloud to have any animals. They are both very tame and are getting lots of cuddles from everyone.
The 2 male guineas are called BILL & BEN and are rough haired guineas they came from a home where they had been much loved but their owners were now spending more and more time at work so they felt they weren't giving the boys the love that they needed. So they came to me. My little girl Lucy has fallen in love with them so she has been giving them lots of cuddles and she also adores brushing their hair.
As you can tell all these new animals will now be staying with me and my family for the rest of their lives even through my hubby keeps telling me i mean't to rescue and then rehome the animals!!!!!!!!!
I will add some photos of these new animals as soon as we can find the camera!!!!

I am very sad today as i have lost 2 bunnies. One off them a boy called Bruno was part of my big group in my shed he was 6 years old and was always a bit of a sickly bunny but he hasn't been ill for a few months so i was very surprised to go into the shed this morning and find him dead he was fine last night no sign of any illness, so i don't know why i've lost him.
The other bunny was a little girl called Blossom i have had her since she was 3 months old. She is now 5 years old and has been sick for a while so i wasn't surprised to lose her althrough i'm still upset as i have been nurseing her for weeks
This is Bruno and below him is Blossom

Hi Everyone
My Name is Brenda Carter and i have been married to Paul for nearly 18 years & we have 4 children.
I have always loved animals i grew up with Canerys & Budgies and was also a Junior member of the RSPB.
When we moved to our house about 10years ago we got a gerbil for our eldest boy. He called her Susie and she was lovely we had her for nearly 4 years when she died. I know now that 4 years is very old for a gerbil. During the time we had Susie we got a hamster for my second eldest boy and he was called Ginger as his colour was pure ginger. He was very tame and was always having cuddles with Matthew or running round the floor in his little ball. He died when he was 2 & a half. For my third son we got a rat called Batman and my son adored him and was heart broken when at 5 years old he had to be put to sleep after having a stoke. My vet was great with my son through as he took time to explain to him that Batman was very old & he would be doing the kindest thing for him.
This really kick started my love for small animals and one day i was in a local pet shop and a man was trying to get a new home for his 6 month old rabbit. I started talking to him and it turned out he had a new born son who was allegic to the rabbits fur. I agreed to take her on and he gave me her hutchs and everything else for her. She was gorgorous and we called her Layla she was black and white like a dalmation dog and was a drawf french lop. She lived until she was 7 years old and was sure an adorable rabbit she is saddly missed.
Since then i have had lots of small animals go through my hands and a few years ago i started Brenda's Small Animal Rescue.
At the moment i have
16 rabbits including a giant house rabbit called King
6 chickens
3 cats
2 kittens
1 rat
3 hamsters
1 fish
1 dog
The above are all our own pets and i will slowly interduce them to you over the next week or so.
