| My Blog Entries 08 Oct 2007 11:07 PLEASE pass on our message to other pet owners:- Microchips DON'T work for stolen dogs, because vets do not scan new dogs registering at their practices!
If your dog got stolen, then was sold to someone who didn't know they were buying a stolen dog in a new area. Your dogs true identity would not be discoverd because when the new owner is registering their newly acquired pet no scan is done.
We want every vets practice to adopt the policy where all Vets or their receptionist or nurse routinely scan all new dogs on registration plus the backlog of dogs that are registered but have never been scanned.

Thought you might like to know that we are in the Daily Mail Weekend Magazine today, which we are delighted with as it mentions the web page, as well as advertising the TV programme we have recorded for It's Me Or The Dog on Thursday 12th July on Channel 4 at 8.30pm. Which seems to be pick of the day in most TV magazines!!

I have been invited on to this web site to help raise awareness to Dog Theft.
Widget and Gizmo were stolen from my car in May last year and if it wasn't for the publicity we received because of my father, I would still be looking for my dogs. Both dogs were sold to the unsuspecting public who would have taken the dogs to the vet. As they are both microchipped you would expect that being new clients into a new vet that they would be scanned but NO, we were told VETS DON'T SCAN!.
Since starting our appeal VETS GET SCANNING we have discovered other unbelievable facts that as a dog owner you can't understand, the lack of support is shocking.
Please take a look at our web side and please sign our petiton and pass the info on. We need all the help we can get.
This is the only way stolen, sold, microchipped dogs will get back home! There are thousands of heartbroken owners suffering from this dreadful crime and not getting the help they deserve.
