Last night when I opened my hamster (Mousie) ´s house and I found her collapsed, ice cold and breathing very heavily. I picked her up and she weakly opened her eyes. I tried to warm her with my hands but it was no good.
I decided to call the vet. They asked me to bring her down to the surgery. The car journey was very tense.
I then took her in. Normally Mousie is hyper-active and loves meeting new people but she took no notice of the vet and was now shaking and sneezing.
After ten minutes of diagnosing her the vet told us that she has pheumonia. I was afraid that I had done something wrong but the vet told me that it isn´t rare for hamsters to get pheumonia because of there small frame. The vet gave me some antibiotic injections to give her.
I had her on my lap, wraped in a towel all evening and only one hour after her first antibiotics she opened her eyes wide and started running around! She is still finding it hard to breath and is extra tired but I think she´ll make it through :)
