Puppies Stolen On Sunday 1.2.09 In North Staffs, Cavs and Westies

Theft of dogs

Police in Leek are appealing for witnesses to come forward after thieves stole six puppies from kennels in Stockton Brook.

Four Cavalier King Charles puppies, and two West Highland whites, who are aged between eight and 12 weeks, were stolen from an address in Stanley Moss Road.

Offenders broke into a detached garage at the address, which has been converted into dog kennels, between 1am and 8.30am on Sunday 1 February.

The puppies are valued at around £400 each.

Despite their young age they are now old enough to be away from their mother.

It is believed the offenders accessed the kennels from a rear field and will have used a vehicle.

Inspector Steve Maskrey, commander of Leek Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU) said: “I would urge anyone with information on this theft to come forward.

“If you, or someone you know, are offered young puppies for sale in suspicious circumstances please contact us.

“Although these puppies are old enough to be away from their mother it is not an ideal situation.

“It is highly unlikely they are being kept in appropriate conditions and receiving the appropriate care.

“If you know of these puppies’ whereabouts please contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Marc Cliff at Leek police on 0300 123 4455 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
